Similar to craftsmanship, Hervé BONSARD endeavors to recapture certain forgotten know-how that promotes a style of French refinement that foreigners can immediately relate to. He seeks to show visitors background, a history. His paintings are a part of our cultural heritage, full of history and emotion. They are works of art made unique by the hand of the craftsman and endowed with a soul.
The work of Hervé BONSARD is an anti-modern transgression which can sometimes be qualified as kitsch but the purpose of which is to shift or to “unteach” the visitor. It is a different way of thinking. The absurdity, irony or magic of his work leads to a source of reflection that makes us ask questions. Guided by the will to tell a story, he shares with subtlety his own perception of the world around us. A staging with humor, poetry and also with a form of seriousness interacts with the public. Through lighting, he gives his images the charm of a poetic reality.

Hervé BONSARD knows how to create an unconventional world, always with the artistic quality of the 17th century. At first glance it must be a painting of the 17th century but with current-day elements subtly placed so as not to shock and upset the Baroque composition. Associations of objects will produce a scene that is not surreal, nor even fantastic, but magical. One does not immediately understand the meaning of these images; it is an atmosphere, a tone that is sought, an absurd universe. It will lead to questioning our complicated contemporary world, certainty as in the surrealist world or classical fantasy.
A painting by Hervé BONSARD is above all an emotion. This is what differentiates a luxury product from an ordinary product. Luxury arouses in us a real emotion that will last over time. A painting by Hervé BONSARD remains a testimony for all brands that aspire to authenticity.

«Beyond aesthetics, Hervé BONSARD’s work invites the viewer to reflect on the unheard-of relationships between things. He creates places where shapes, objects, beings and places can meet. He seeks to establish a new relationship between the being and its environment !».
O.LIBAUX
« People who strongly value the transmission of artisanal know-how and creative development, as well as enlightened amateurs looking for exclusivity, should acquire one of Hervé BONSARD’s works. ».
A.GUZMAN

« The Baroque can be recognized in Hervé BONSARD’s paintings by an overexploitation of what characterizes it: light, sfumato, movement, rhetoric, a dynamic composition, full action.».
Y.COPENS
«The execution time of these works and the pace of the painter’s strokes induce a particular notion of time as well as a philosophy and a concept of the profession that one finds only in the so-called primitive artists of the 15th century ».
L.VILKS

« BONSARD has a definite inclination to represent banality, but knows how to bring out all its passion, strength and its strange greatness by certain states of mind; provoking an impression in the spectator which, if not edifying, often seizes him by the power which emanates from it ».
M.DERTI
« BONSARD’s works are smoothed to perfection, the material is as if enamelled, the touch imperceptible, the gesture polished, the often abundant details are painted with a prodigious meticulousness. But the technicality and the aesthetics are at the service of an idea ».
